The basic steps are:
• Make sure Bluetooth is turned off on other devices like your phone to avoid the headphones connecting to them
• Put your headphones into pairing mode
• Put the C81 into pairing mode
• Wait a few seconds for them to connect
We'll demonstrate using AirPods Pro as an example.
First, put the AirPods Pro into pairing mode:
1. Place the AirPods back in their case.
2. Close the lid and open it again.
3. Press and hold the button on the back of the charging case until the LED light starts flashing white.
Then, put the C81 into pairing mode:
4. Insert the C81 into the console. If the indicator light is flashing blue and white, it means the dongle is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the button on the C81 for 2 seconds until the indicator light flashes blue and white.
5. Wait a few seconds and they should connect. The C81's indicator light will turn solid blue.
If the headphones have connected but the C81's light is still flashing blue and white, it means the headphones may have erroneously connected to a previous device like your phone, watch or tablet. Make sure Bluetooth is turned off on other devices to avoid the headphones connecting to them before the C81.
Please note that turning your headphones off and on again will not automatically put them into pairing mode. Due to word count limits, we cannot list the pairing mode entrance methods for every headphone on the market. If you have other brand headphones, please refer to the product instructions or search online for "brand+model+pairing mode", e.g. Bose qc 35 pairing mode, or Sony WH-1000xm4 pairing mode, and find how to put your headphones into pairing mode from the search results.
Followed above method, headphones still won't connect to C81. How to fix?
The C81 is essentially a Bluetooth transmitter that can only connect to other Bluetooth receiver devices (Bluetooth headphones). In addition to Bluetooth wireless headphones, there are also 2.4G wireless headphones on the market.
These headphones can typically only connect to their own dongle and not any other device. Most gaming headphones fall into this category, like the Sony PULSE 3D and Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2.
How to tell the difference:
- If you purchased online, check the title, description and images carefully for the word "Bluetooth." If there's only a mention of "wireless" but no Bluetooth, it's likely not a Bluetooth headphone.
- Directly ask the seller.
- If you already have the headphone in hand, put it into pairing mode and see if it appears in your phone's Bluetooth list. If it does not appear, it is definitely not a Bluetooth headphone.
For these types of headphones, unfortunately the C81 will be of no use. You can either return the C81 or choose a suitable Bluetooth headphone instead.
My headphones are confirmed to be Bluetooth, but they won't connect to the dongle. What should I do?
- Reset your headphones - Search for "[headphone brand] + [model] + reset" online and follow the instructions to reset your headphones and put them back into pairing mode.
- Reset the C81 - Press and hold the C81 button for 2 seconds until the indicator light flashes blue and white. Then press the button twice quickly. The light will turn solid white then turn blue and white flashing after 2 seconds, indicating a successful reset and entering pairing mode.
- Wait a few seconds for them to connect.
