The connection issue arises because the Roadtrip and your phone remain within the effective operating range of about 10 meters. This proximity allows them to stay connected, and the car kit may not automatically power off. Furthermore, if it disconnects, the speakerphone could reconnect if it detects motion within this range.
Solutions:
-
Turn Off the Car Kit: If your parking spot at home is very close to where you keep your phone, we recommend turning off the car kit to prevent it from reconnecting due to any detected motion. Simply slide the "OFF/ON/FM" switch to the "OFF" position to completely power down the Roadtrip.
Note: When set to the "OFF" position, the Roadtrip is completely turned off. To use it again, you will need to manually turn it on by sliding it back to the "ON" or "FM" position.
-
Disable Bluetooth on Your Phone: As an additional measure or alternative, you can turn off Bluetooth on your phone to sever the connection when you arrive home and prevent any automatic reconnections.
-
Park Your Car Further Away: Consider parking your car further from your home if possible. This distance may help prevent the car kit from being within the Bluetooth connection range or the motion sensor's activation range, reducing the likelihood of unintended reconnections or power-ons.
By proactively managing the connection settings on your Roadtrip and phone, and considering where you park your car, you can ensure that your car kit does not inadvertently stay connected or turn on when not in use, especially at home where movement may trigger its motion sensors.
